Will Greg Abbott Condemn Endorsed Candidate for Using Racial Slurs toward Police during DWI Arrest? [Lone Star Project]
DALLAS, TX – Career politician Greg Abbott has what should be an easy decision to make after the Lone Star Project uncovered new video revealing his endorsed candidate for Texas House District 144, Republican David Flores, using vile racial slurs toward police officers while being arrested for DWI.

Abbott endorsed Flores earlier this year and continued campaigning alongside him, appearing together at an event in Pasadena in September, months after Flores’s arrest and the racist outburst.
According to the video, Flores even invoked Abbott’s endorsement while being detained, telling the officer: “the governor just freaking endorsed me.” Later, while in the back of the police cruiser, Flores can be heard insulting the officer and using racial slurs.
This isn’t the first time Abbott’s faced questions about candidates he supported using racist rhetoric. This month, he refused to condemn or withdraw support from Bo French for posting racist tweets and calling for the public execution of political opponents.
“This shouldn’t be that hard. But concerningly, Greg Abbott seems to have trouble telling the difference between right and wrong. He’s already failed the character test once with Bo French. Now, another one of his endorsed candidates is on camera attacking police officers with vile racial slurs, after using that endorsement to try and get out of the arrest. Texans shouldn’t have to guess which way their governor’s moral compass is pointed. If he truly supports law enforcement, he’ll find the courage to condemn these remarks and withdraw his endorsement of Flores,” said Texas Democratic Party Spokesman Jacob Long.
