NEW DATA: Paxton-Backed Tariffs Have Cost Texas Nearly $37 Billion - Over $3,250 Per Texas Household
AUSTIN, TX — New data from the Trade Partnership Worldwide shows that Ken Paxton-backed tariffs have hit Texas harder than nearly any other state in the nation, costing Texas families over $3,250 and costing the state an estimated $37 billion.
Despite tariffs ravaging the Lone Star State’s economy, devastating farmers and raising costs of groceries and everyday essentials, Paxton says he “fully support[s]” tariffs and has released no plan to lower the cost of goods for Texas families suffering right now from his policies.
Texas Democratic Party Spokesperson Ryan Martin:
"Paxton-backed tariffs have now cost Texas an estimated $37 billion, effectively a tax increase on every household of over $3,250 a year. Every time Texans see their grocery bill go up, pay more for gas, or can’t afford to buy new school supplies for their kids they can thank Ken Paxton. The only thing Ken Paxton cares about is lining his own pockets and helping his billionaire donors get richer. Texans are fed up with corrupt politicians like Ken Paxton raising their costs and rigging the system against them and will be sending him packing in November.”
