MUST WATCH INTERVIEW: MAGA Republican Sid Miller Destroys Greg Abbott for Lying to Texans about Fake Data Center Pause
DALLAS, TX – Career politician Greg Abbott is facing growing backlash from inside his own party after getting caught lying to Texans about his sudden election-year interest in appearing tough on data centers after inviting them to the state with some of the largest tax breaks in the nation and accepting more than $22 million in donations from the industry.

In a stunning interview with MS NOW’s Katy Tur, Texas Agriculture Commissioner and loyal MAGA Republican Sid Miller slammed Abbott for unchecked and unregulated data center activity, calling Abbott’s data center pause “a ruse” and confirming he did not vote for Abbott.
“It was all our Governor. Our governor brought this in. He touted we’re going to lead the world in AI data centers – and he got his wish. But it’s unregulated with no oversight. No organization whatsoever, no guardrails. So now we have a huge problem,” Miller said.
He continued: “I’ve never voted for Democrats in my life but there’s two Republicans I cannot vote for. I did not vote for our Governor Greg Abbott. He needs to go.”
Miller went on to confirm that he repeatedly pressed Abbott for stronger action to protect local communities but that Abbott refused.
“I asked the governor to do a moratorium. He wouldn’t do it. I asked him for a special session. He wouldn’t do it. So he did a flip flop and said … I’ll put a pause on it until after the election. Well, his pause is a ruse,” Miller said.
Miller’s comments follow new reporting about a bombshell investigation from the nonpartisan nonprofit consumer watchdog group Public Citizen that found Abbott has continued approving dozens of new permits for data center projects even after his data center pause was issued, including permits approved as recently as this month.
“Sid Miller hit the nail on the head: Greg Abbott lied to Texas. For months, he ignored calls from within his own party to take tougher action on data centers. All the while Greg Abbott continued accepting millions of dollars from the industry. He only acted when the issue became politically inconvenient for him – and even then we’re learning that his data center crackdown is all an act as dozens of permits have continued moving across the state. This is wholly disqualifying for anyone who wants to lead Texas. So when one of the most conservative MAGA Republicans in all of Texas says that Greg Abbott ‘needs to go,’ people should take that extremely seriously and vote accordingly,” said Texas Democratic Party Spokesman Jacob Long.
