Greg Abbott Tossed David Flores Overboard – When Will He Condemn Bo French?

DALLAS, TX – Career politician Greg Abbott was forced to withdraw his endorsement of Republican Texas House candidate David Flores after video surfaced of Flores using racial slurs toward police officers during a DWI arrest and appearing to try to get out of the arrest by mentioning Abbott’s support, saying: “the governor just freaking endorsed me.”

But Abbott’s decision raises a new question: if racist remarks were enough for him to pull his support from Flores, why is Greg Abbott continuing to back Bo French?

Several prominent Texas Republicans have publicly condemned French after he posted racist remarks about UT students on X last month. But not Greg Abbott. Abbott has refused to publicly push French to take his posts down or condemn them, even after additional social media posts resurfaced where French called for the public execution of political opponents.

So what’s the difference?

“Greg Abbott doesn’t have a problem throwing you overboard when you’re just running for a local House seat. That's easy. But if he believes David Flores’s racist remarks disqualify him from enjoying the governor’s continued support, then he needs to explain why that same standard isn’t being applied to Bo French. We know Abbott thinks French is too ‘inexperienced’ to be Texas’s next Railroad Commissioner, but what’s stopping him from condemning French’s disturbing pattern of racist rhetoric? Texans deserve a governor with a consistent moral compass who’s not afraid to stand up to even the most extreme voices in their own party. Sadly, Greg Abbott continues to fail that test,” said Texas Democratic Party Spokesman Jacob Long.
