Greg Abbott Digs Himself a Deeper Hole with Trump-Vance Agenda as Texans Pay the Price
DALLAS, TX – Facing his toughest re-election after 30 years in public office, career politician Greg Abbott tied himself even further today to a historically unpopular administration that’s made life more expensive for working families across Texas in a desperate attempt to shore up his base amid significant political headwinds.
His appearance at a groundbreaking with JD Vance in the Rio Grande Valley comes as the Trump-Vance administration remains underwater with Texas voters and as other statewide elected Texas Republicans openly admit the recent RNC midterm convention brought down "everybody's numbers.”

“Greg Abbott and JD Vance should really keep those shovels handy – because they’ve got a massive political hole to dig themselves out of. This is an administration that promised us cheaper groceries on day one and no more foreign wars. Instead, Texans are getting crushed by higher inflation, more expensive healthcare, tariffs, and a new war that’s pushed the price of gas to $6/gal while billionaires and big corporations get further and further ahead. And Greg Abbott has endorsed this reckless agenda every step of the way because he’s more interested in the national spotlight than he is helping Texans with the economic pain they’re feeling at home. That’s why he’s too scared to debate and continues to lose support among key voter groups he needs to win, including Latinos. No photo opp or handshake is going to change that record,” said Texas Democratic Party Spokesman Jacob Long.
