Texas Republicans Betray Texans And Waste Special Sessions on Trump’s Map

AUSTIN, Texas – Today, the Texas Legislature adjourned after spending two special sessions focused on passing Donald Trump’s new Congressional map before flood relief and ignoring the need for real help for working Texans.

“Greg Abbott and the Republicans will try to spin this as a conservative victory, but don’t be fooled– these special sessions were about one thing: being Donald Trump’s errand boy,” said Texas Democratic Party Chairman Kendall Scudder. “The Republicans stalled on flood relief, while prioritizing the elimination of women’s reproductive health options, patrolling potties, and making horse medicine easier to buy over the counter. They sure tackled the real issues. Meanwhile, Texas Democrats stood up for Texans and Democracy every step of the way through whatever means necessary. In 2026, we will remind Texans that they will have a choice: politicians obsessed with serving Donald Trump, or Democrats who put Texas families first.”
