Texas Democratic Party To Host the 11th Annual Johnson-Jordan Dinner in Houston, Texas
Houston, TX – On November 22nd, the Texas Democratic Party will host its 11th Annual Johnson-Jordan Dinner in Houston, Texas, celebrating two Texas icons whose legacies shaped our nation’s moral and political conscience.
The dinner honors President Lyndon B. Johnson, a proud Texan whose Great Society advanced landmark progress through legislation like the Civil Rights Act, and Congresswoman Barbara Jordan, the first African American woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. Together, they set the standard for leadership rooted in courage, compassion, and an unshakeable belief in Democracy, a fight that continues today.
As Donald Trump continues his assault on Democracy, the Texas Democratic Party is proud to announce that two of his fiercest critics and champions for justice, U.S. Representatives Jasmine Crockett and Jamie Raskin, will be headlining this year’s event. They will inspire Democrats from every corner of Texas to organize, fight back, and take back power.
“President Johnson and Representative Barbara Jordan had a profound effect on American Democracy, and I am honored to continue the tradition of honoring their legacy at the 11th JJ Dinner, said Texas Democratic Party Chairman Kendall Scudder. “I am thrilled to welcome Representatives Jasmine Crockett and Jamie Raskin as our headline guest speakers, along with a powerful slate of Texas leaders. This will be a night filled with hope, courage, and Democrats ready to stand up and fight for our future. You don’t want to miss it.”
