Millions All Over The Country Handed Trump A Decisive Defeat On Election Night
AUSTIN, Texas – In a night described by Donald Trump as “not good” for Republicans, and as he cried about fraud, millions of people made their voices heard at the voting booth. Many different types of Democrats won elections all across the country, including California’s Prop 50 to negate Trump’s Texas redistricting scheme, proving that our “umbrella party” has room for all those looking for progress and good government. Millions of Texans made their voices heard on constitutional amendments, local propositions, and in special elections for CD 18 and SD 9.
Additionally, progressive or Democratic city council and school board trustee candidates swept elections all across Texas, including Claudia Zapata in Kyle, Taylor Burge in Lockhart, Jonathan Coffman in Pflugerville, school boards in Harris and Hood Counties, and the re-elections of Elizabeth Rodriguez-Ross to the Mesquite City Council and Sonja Brown as Mayor of Glenn Heights.
“At a time when Republicans are making life harder for working people and complicating their ability to cast ballots, I would like to thank all Americans who exercised their rights to hand Trump Republicans such a decisive loss,” said Kendall Scudder, Texas Democratic Party Chairman. “Folks are tired of out-of-control price increases, waning access to healthcare, and violations of their civil liberties. Meanwhile, Trump seems more committed to bailing out Argentinian cattle farmers, bulldozing the White House, and prolonging the government shutdown, which is now hitting a record 36 days.”
“Texas, along with the rest of the country, sent a strong message to Trump and his henchmen – when a grassroots union organizer like Taylor Rehmet overperforms by almost 20 points and forces a runoff, it couldn’t be any clearer that voters are tired of Republican bullshit. Trump said last night was ‘not good,’ but believe me, we are going to make sure 2026 will be a total disaster for him,” continued Scudder.
