Digital & Communications Intern
Description:
The Texas Democratic Party is seeking a a Digital and Communications Intern for the summer 2025 semester. You will be responsible for writing and executing grassroots campaigns using fundraising, mobilization, and communications tactics, and also collaborating to pioneer emerging technologies to achieve our ambitious goals for 2026. To succeed, you’ll need to be forward-thinking and relentlessly pursue excellence in all written communications.
Core Responsibilities:
Develop and code grassroots fundraising emails
Design creative social media graphics/videos that react to current events, trends, and voter priorities, as well as strengthening the organizing leg of our party by promoting actions onlineWork closely with the messaging team on press releases and events.
Propose ideas for online messaging.
Other duties, as assigned, to support the department and the TDP's mission.
Required Skills:
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; you should have an eagle-eye for typos and errors and have a deep understanding of how to inspire people to take action using the written word.
You're excited to use emerging technologies to push boundaries and modernize our approach to digital communications and fundraising.
You’re flexible and adaptive; you can innovate within situations that change on the fly, and you maintain a positive attitude through it all.
Desired but teachable Skills:
Familiarity with Canva
Basic video editing experience (ex: CapCut, iMovie)
Start Date: ASAP
Employment Type: Intern. Part-time (approximately 20 hours per week), non-exempt, hybrid- with three days at least expected in office. Not benefits eligible. Union eligible.

VAN Assistant Intern
Description:
The Texas Democratic Party is currently seeking applications for a VAN Assistant Intern for the summer 2025 semester. In this position interns will learn about how the party functions, assist in the management of political data, and help ensure Democrats across Texas have everything they need to win elections. The VAN Assistant Intern will report directly to the VAN Manager. Exceptional candidates may have previous experience working with VAN but we welcome applications from anyone with a can-do-attitude and a willingness to learn.
Core Responsibilities:
VAN (Voter Activation Network) is the principal data management tool utilized by Democratic campaigns across the country. The Texas Democratic Party runs a support team to aid partners in using this tool effectively. Assisting with answering questions and providing training will be an important part of this role.
Overseeing VAN account requests and creation with the guidance of the VAN Manager
Additional duties as assigned by VAN Manager
Additional Responsibilities:
Create survey questions that campaigns use to better understand the electorate
Process VAN forms/payments from various campaigns
Required Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills, and experience explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
An absolute commitment to working at the Texas Democratic Party
Preferred Experience:
Political or electoral experience, including having volunteered with campaigns
Familiarity with VAN/MiniVAN
Experience with a customer service ticketing system such as helpdesk
Passion to learn

Finance Intern
Description:
The Texas Democratic Party is seeking a Finance Intern for the Summer of 2025, with a possibility of extension. This person will be responsible for drafting direct donor communications, preparing briefing materials for fundraising events, and gaining experience in donor prospecting research. It is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to see the nitty-gritty of how the Democratic Party finance works and believes in the future of the Texas Democratic Party. An ideal candidate will need to be well-organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Core Responsibilities:
Draft donor communication and acknowledgments.
Research prospective donors and assist with general research projects.
Maintain active donor database in NGP and ensure up-to-date. documentation of relationship management.
Assist with preparation of briefing materials for events and meetings.
Support staff with external meetings and events as needed.
Assist with day-to-day operations of the finance department.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
Proficiency in Google Suite, specifically Google Sheets.
The ability to focus on precise messaging to prepare public donor-facing communication ensuring positive interactions with constituents.
The ability to think creatively to complete research projects and expand the Texas Democratic Party network.
High school graduate.
Must be 18 or older.
