Texas Democratic Party Urges Counties to Extend Poll Hours Following Election Day Chaos
DALLAS/FORT WORTH - The Texas Democratic Party joins U.S. Senate campaigns of Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and State Rep. James Talarico in calling on officials in Dallas and Williamson counties to extend voting hours to ensure more time for all eligible voters to cast a ballot. Hard working Texans have stood in long lines today, often at the wrong polling place, all because of Republican efforts to suppress the vote.
The mishandling of this election administration by Republican Party leaders has been staggering. For more than two months, Democratic Party leadership has been warning Republican leadership every step of the way that a disaster was impending, but they refused to listen. Now, voters all across Dallas and Williamson Counties are being denied ballot access, being turned away at the polls, and facing outrageous wait times at their polling locations.
“This mishandling lies squarely at the feet of every Republican Party official who refused to work toward joint primaries, but instead peddled election conspiracy theories,” said TDP Chairman Kendall Scudder.
Texans will remember who created these obstacles to the ballot box and will have the opportunity to hold them accountable.
