The Texas Democratic Party Congratulates Beto O’Rourke on Winning the Texas Gubernatorial Primary

Austin, TX -- Tonight, Beto O’Rourke officially secured the Democratic nomination for Governor. He advances to challenge Governor Greg Abbott in November.

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“On behalf of the Texas Democratic Party, I congratulate Beto O’Rourke on winning the Democratic nomination for Governor. For years, Beto has inspired millions of Texans and he will lead us to victory in November as we fight to take back Texas from failed governor Greg Abbott. We must all unite, stand in solidarity, and fight like hell to win in November – the future of our state depends on it.

“I also want to thank Joy Diaz, Michael Cooper, Rich Wakeland, Innocencio Barrientez, their teams, and supporters for investing their time and effort to mobilize our communities during a time when engaging our voters is everything. Together, we have laid the important groundwork for winning back our state. Texas Democrats are proud of their efforts.

“Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans have continually failed Texans.
