NEW POLL: Trump is locked in too-close-to-call race in Texas

Third Poll in Less Than Three Months Showing Texas is the Biggest Battleground State in the Country

Austin, TX — Today, a new Quinnipiac University poll shows “Trump is locked in too-close-to-call races with any one of seven top Democratic challengers in the 2020 presidential race in Texas.” Showing some Democrats leading and tied with Donald Trump, Texas remains the biggest battleground state in the country.

The new poll follows an Emerson College poll in April and a Quinnipiac poll released in February showing the same result.

Biden 48, Trump 44
Trump 46, Warren 45
Trump 47, Sanders 44
Trump 48, O’Rourke 45
Trump 46, Buttigieg 44
Trump 47, Harris 43
Trump 46, Castro 43

Additionally, the poll shows Senator John Cornyn with a lower approval rating than Ted Cruz (50%-44%), despite being in office over a decade longer.

Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Manny Garcia issued the following statement:

“Poll after poll shows the same result: Texas is the biggest battleground state and the focal point of the Democratic offensive strategy.

“This our moment. We all know that once Texas goes blue, the Republican path to the White House will be blocked.

“Texans want leaders who will fight for them on issues like healthcare, education, and the economy. That’s why Texas Democrats are poised to win.

“The 2020 electoral battleground is taking shape, and we must win the White House, take out John Cornyn, send more Texas Democrats to Congress, flip the Texas House, and elect hundreds of local Democrats across the state.”
