Media Advisory: One Texas Resistance Rally and Day of Action on July 18

AUSTIN, TX – On the first day of the Special Session, Texas’s leading progressive organizations and the Texas Democratic Party will rally at the Texas Capitol. The One Texas Resistance coalition will confront Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s dangerous agenda and call for real solutions championed by the Senate and House Democrats.

Texas Democratic Party Executive Director Crystal K. Perkins issued the following statement:

“The Texas Republicans’ agenda has put our families in peril.

“While the economy has plummeted from 3rd to 21st, Texas Republicans have ignored the real solutions critical for all Texas families. That’s why Texans are joining the One Texas Resistance and showing up in force at their Texas Capitol.

“We are one Texas and we will not be divided by fear-mongering politicians, fringe issues, and nonsense.”

What is One Texas Resistance?

One Texas Resistance is comprised of progressive and justice-oriented advocates, focused on building the collective power of our movement in Texas and in the state legislature. Together, these organizations have committed to: empowering new advocates, knocking on doors, and calling on elected officials to demand their attention every day of this Special Session and beyond.
