VP Mike Pence Campaigns for Vulnerable Texas Republicans

Austin, TX – Today, Vice President Mike Pence will visit Texas for a photo-op on the Texas border with universally disliked Ted Cruz. The macho border trip comes as a new poll shows Cruz more unfavorable than even Donald Trump and a single-digit race with Texas Democrat Beto O’Rourke.

On Saturday, Pence will raise funds for the Republican Party. The dining with millionaire donors comes as polls show Democrats poised to take back the U.S. House of Representatives.

Pence will focus on endangered incumbent Texas Republican Pete Sessions and retiring Congressman Jeb Hensarling in Dallas. The cozy campaigning comes as Donald Trump’s popularity in Texas hits an all-time low and Texas is now considered competitive territory.

Texas Democratic Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“The Trump administration isn’t just historically unpopular because Donald Trump is racist and sexist, it’s in chaos because every single policy proposal is an insult to Texans.

“From jeopardizing our relationship with Mexico, to sabotaging our healthcare, and giving away tax cuts to billionaires on our children’s tab, Donald Trump and Mike Pence are literally ruining Texans lives and futures.

“Ted Cruz, Pete Sessions, Will Hurd, John Culberson, and every single Texas Republican ought to be shaking in their boots. There’s a blue wave sweeping Texas, and hugging Mike Pence won’t save them.”
