Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“In 2020, it’s going to take leadership from groups across the state to turn Texas blue. The Texas Coalition of Black Democrats has long been a pillar of Black leadership and a force for ensuring that voices from all underserved and marginalized communities are heard. With the new leadership of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats, the experiences and needs of Black Texans will be boldly and fiercely represented. The Texas Democratic Party congratulates this leadership team as they embark on the critical mission of lifting Black voters and voices and helping us and all of our caucuses and coalitions turn Texas blue once and for all.”

Texas Democratic Party Vice Chair Carla Brailey issued the following statement:

“For years, Black communities in Texas have been marginalized and underserved due to a lack of investment and understanding. To create real change, caucuses like the Texas Black Democrats have never been more important. The Texas Coalition of Black Democrats knows that change is desperately needed to serve all of our communities. Under the leadership of new Chair Carroll Robinson and with the newly elected leadership of the Texas Black Democrats, Black Texans will have a vocal and powerful seat at the table. In our history, Black women have built the Texas Democratic Party from the ground up. Dr, Robinson is aligned with the needs and interests of Black women and will continue to uplift their voices as he begins his new leadership role. We will harness our shared energy and create the real and meaningful change that our state so desperately needs. I commend the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats for an amazing and energetic swearing-in ceremony that reflects the energy seen among Black Democrats across the state of Texas and I was glad to be a part of it.”

Texas Democratic Party Finance Chair Chris Hollins issued the following statement:

“As a Black Texas Democrat, I’ve seen firsthand the struggles and underrepresentation that our communities have faced for decades. With the newly elected leadership of the Texas Black Democrats, led by Chair Carroll G. Robinson, the needs of Black Texans will never be more important. Chairwoman Robinson is a force who will lead the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats to new heights. The Texas Democratic Party applauds the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats for electing new leaders and continuing the crucial work that they have been doing to turn Texas blue in 2020. This is our moment and our coalitions are ready to make change.”
