Texas Democratic Party Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month:

“Latinos have contributed tremendously to our state and country. From the founding of the nation’s oldest cities, to representing our people in Austin and Washington D.C., and contributing to all areas of society, Latinos represent our past, present, and future.

“This month, we celebrate our culture’s beauty, diversity and valuable contributions to American life and culture. Whether through public service, the armed forces, in public education, or in entrepreneurship, Latinos are building the American dream.

“Latino representation and power are one of the most important building blocks of the Texas Democratic Party. This month, we will host several events to mobilize Latinos in Texas while we celebrate how Latinos and Latinas have enriched our society and strengthened our democracy across Texas and the United States. This week, the Texas Democratic Party is hosting a Latinx Week of Action in an unprecedented effort to contact millions of Latinos in Texas and register them to vote. Our community becomes more equitable when we participate in the electoral process.

“Latinos are the future of Texas and we continue to fight for equal representation and the betterment of Latino lives every single day.”
