SHOT/CHASER – Ted Cruz Falsely Claims Bribery While Selling Out Texans

SHOT – Cruz tweeted the campaign to stop Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court includes “potential illegal bribery”

According to Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, when tens of thousands of Americans make small donations to make their collective voices heard, it’s called bribery.

CHASER – Ted Cruz is the poster child for being paid off by PACs and Super PACs

In the days surrounding his votes for the tax bill, Cruz took nearly $120,000 in PAC contributions from organizations that lobbied on, benefited from, or even helped write the legislation.

  • In a four-day period before his Senate vote on the legislation, Cruz took $23,500 from corporate PACs and industry associations that had lobbied on the bill.

  • In a four day period after his Senate vote on the legislation, Cruz took $64,500 from corporate PACs and industry associations that had lobbied on the bill.

  • In the ten-day period following his final Senate vote on the legislation, Cruz took $29,500 from corporate PACs and industry associations that had lobbied on the bill.

  • Those companies that bought Cruz off were among the major corporate beneficiaries of the bill. Many reported billions in tax savings and rising stock prices.
