Coronavirus Has Forced Adaptations To Our Path to Victory, To Adapt, Texas Democrats Have Moved Virtually
Austin, TX – Today, Texas Democrats released our updated path to victory for the remainder of the 2020 Election cycle, highlighting our innovative organizing strategies, digital advertising investments, and our plans to expose Trump Republicans for their leadership failures at the federal and state level.
Now with less than 100 days until Election Day, we are releasing our revised plan to win with the kind of forward-thinking that has already made Texas the biggest battleground state in the country. try.
To turn Texas blue, we will:
Motivate voters who sometimes miss an election: Through traditional organizing, distributed organizing, digital organizing, constituency organizing, our online rapid response team, and our digital advertising, we will reach voters across Texas and build the biggest coordinated campaign in the history of our state. By November, our goal is to have 2 million likely-Democratic voters added to the rolls.
Persuade folks not satisfied with Trump to vote Democratic: It’s not only moderates and independents who have grown tired of living in Trump’s backward, tumultuous version of reality. Younger and voters of color are primed to end the Trump presidency. Alongside our nominees up and down the ballot, we will expose Republicans’ leadership failures and bring voters into our Democratic movement.
Protect access to the ballot and make it easier to vote: We will continue to keep voters informed through MyTexasVotes.com, our voter assistance hotline 844-TX-VOTES, and our voter registration portal RegisterTexas.com. We will send hundreds of thousands of vote-by-mail applications to Texans, work with county liaisons and election officials to ensure adequate and safe polling places and opportunities to vote, and recruit and support election workers and poll watchers.
Highlights of these investments include:
A commitment to a seven-figure digital advertising spend as we get closer to November.
Add 2 million voters to the rolls through traditional, distributed digital, and constituency organizing.
Contact our most loyal base — the 1.5 million Black registered voters in Texas to promote registration and mobilization.
The development of an online Rapid Response team to counter any disinformation coming from the Republican camp.
The creation of the largest coordinated digital and distributed organizing program in Texas Democratic Party history.
A state of the art voter protection team to curb any Republican attempts to stop Texans from voting.
Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:
“Texas Democrats are poised to win up and down the ballot this year. As campaigning has changed with the coronavirus, so have our efforts and investment of resources. We are building an adaptive model and taking an innovative path to victory that will turn Texas blue in November.
“As Republicans remain stuck in neutral, without a clue how to navigate in the time of the coronavirus, Texas Democrats are thinking creatively and doing what it takes to reach voters where they are. Our investments in digital organizing and ramping our team up to become the largest digital and organizing staff in Texas Democratic Party history will allow us to win up and down the ballot in November. This is our moment. Texas will turn blue on November 3rd.”
Texas Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign Director Brooklynne Mosely issued the following statement:
“To win Texas, we knew that we must innovate our organizing program and ensure that we are keeping up with the challenges that coronavirus has brought to us. Today, with the launch of our new Path to Victory, we have done just that. Our new Path to Victory will capitalize on our strengths and reach voters where they are. To engage the voters we need to win and to deal with the challenges that coronavirus brings, we needed to chart a new path forward. And we have done just that.
“Texas is the biggest battleground state in the country. Together we will win the White House, take out John Cornyn, flip several Congressional seats, break the Supermajority in the Texas Senate, take back the Texas House, hold right-wing justices accountable in the Texas Supreme Court, and win hundreds of local elections all across the state. This is our moment. Our time is now.”
