RELEASE: Trumps Hellbent on Destroying the Texas Economy

Austin, TX — Today, Ivanka Trump showed up in Dallas to host a “business roundtable.” What she failed to mention is the trail of the Trump Administration’s broken promises and the devastating effects on the economy that he’s left in the state of Texas and the Dallas/Fort Worth area in particular.

Two years ago, Donald Trump, Cornyn, and the Republican Party introduced their tax scam that gave giant corporations a permanent tax break, while middle and working-class families foot the bill. It’s already been estimated that Trump’s tax scam will raise taxes for over 5 million Texans in the coming decade.

Additionally, Trump’s dangerous rhetoric and xenophobic nature threatens Texas’ relationship with our biggest trading partner, Mexico. Everytime Trump threatens to shut down our border or raise tariffs on Mexico, Texas small business’ are the ones who suffer.

Every day, $1.4 billion in goods cross the U.S.-Mexico border, and millions of jobs are linked to trade on both sides. Trump’s threats continue to threaten this trade every single day.

Whether it’s Trump’s dangerous tax scam or his threatening rhetoric at the border, one thing is certain:

Trump’s Economic Policies have failed Texans, in each and every single way.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“Trump’s economic policies have been absolutely devastating for Texas families. His economy has left us with a crippling trade war with China, stagnant job growth, crushing tariffs, and a tax plan that’s squeezed the middle class and only benefited millionaires and billionaires. If Republicans are pointing to Trump’s economic policies as a reason they will carry Texas in 2020, their chances are already doomed. Texas, and the rest of the United States will fully reject Trump in 2020. We will build on our relationships with our biggest trade partners, Mexico and we will once again re-stabilize this region while creating jobs and opportunity for all.”
