Joe Biden Names Kamala Harris As His Vice Presidential Pick

Today, Joe Biden announced that he has chosen Kamala Harris as his vice presidential pick. Throughout her years of public service, Kamala Harris has amplified the needs of working families, defended consumers, and has been at the forefront of the fight for civil rights. We’re honored to congratulate Kamala on joining Joe Biden’s ticket, and excited to see her restore justice and humanity to the nation’s second-highest office once elected.

Elected in 2016, Harris is the second African American woman in history to be elected to the U.S. Senate. Prior to becoming a U.S. Senator, Kamala was the first African American and first woman to serve as Attorney General of the state of California.

Throughout her tenure in the Senate, Harris has introduced or co-sponsored legislation that empowers and uplifts middle-class families, and has sought to decrease the financial burdens that fall on so many Americans. She has been a strong supporter of the movement to raise the minimum wage, cut taxes for struggling middle-class families struggling, make higher education more attainable by providing tuition-free options, and expand access to quality, affordable healthcare.

She serves on crucial committees, including the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she has consistently asked the tough questions on behalf of the American people.

Come November 3rd, we will be proud to deliver Texas’ 38 electoral votes to elect Joe Biden and Kamala Harris the next President and Vice President of the United States.
