ICYMI: Texas Democrats Unveil 2024 Statewide Slate

AUSTIN, Texas Last week, voters nominated a lineup of strong Democratic candidates who best represent our party’s commitment to solving the issues facing Texas families today.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa issued the following statement:

“The 2024 Texas Democratic slate consists of dedicated public servants who have spent their lives committed to the betterment of working families. Amidst the backdrop of a reproductive healthcare crisis, pressing border security issues, an escalating gun violence epidemic, and political chaos fueled by MAGA Republicans – the Texas Democratic Party emerges as the only party capable of leadership in the 2024 cycle. While Republicans continue to allow their party to be hijacked by MAGA extremists, Democrats are united behind a strong lineup of the candidates who are ready to pound the pavement and make our case to the people of Texas.”

President Joe Biden

  • In three years alone, the Biden-Harris Administration has taken action to: Bring more than 1.7 million good-paying jobs to Texas, protect Social Security and Medicare, combat the gun violence epidemic in the wake of the Robb Elementary School massacre, enhance border security–and protect the right to access birth control, IVF treatment, and reproductive healthcare decisions.

U.S. Senate: Congressman Colin Allred

  • Congressman Allred is a fourth generation Texan who represents the district where he was born and raised in Congress.  Allred is a tireless public servant with a strong record of delivering for Texas, from establishing a new VA hospital in his district to lowering health care costs and bringing $35 billion in infrastructure investments to Texas. Allred is running for Senate to stand up for Texans’ freedoms including the freedoms to get ahead if you work hard and follow the rules, to access an abortion, and to retire with dignity.

Railroad Commissioner: Katherine Culbert

  • The Texas Railroad Commission election is the most important environmental race in the United States. The incumbent, Christi Craddock, is bought and paid for by the Big Oil and Gas industry – allowing Texans to be exposed to toxic waste, air and water. Culbert is an engineer and small business owner, running to bring transparency back to the Railroad Commission so that no family is subjected to contaminated elements or high utility prices.

Supreme Court of Texas: Judges Christine Vihn Weems, Bonnie Lee Goldstein and Dasean Jones

  • In the last few years alone, we’ve seen the expansive role the Texas Supreme Court has played in dismantling our fundamental rights. Texas’ MAGA Supreme Court ordered Kate Cox to risk her life, forcing her to carry an unviable pregnancy to term against her will. It’s clear that this all-important bench has been usurped by extremists with a MAGA agenda and zero accountability. The Texas Democratic judicial slate is composed of impartial and ethical jurists who have spent their careers defending justice, the court of law, and the constitutional rights of all Texans.

Court of Criminal Appeals: Holly Turner and Judges Nancy Mulder and Chika Aniyam

  • The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals is the highest criminal court in the state. After justices of the court ruled against corrupt Ken Paxton and in favor of the constitution – Paxton led a multi-million dollar effort to remove them from the court as a part of his revenge campaign against those who dared hold him accountable. Our Texas Democratic nominees are lifelong public servants who are committed to ensuring justice on the court – not serving personal vendettas on behalf of corrupt politicians who hold themselves above the law.
